Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Detail Aura ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use this website or send us a booking request, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it. We operate a fully mobile detailing service across the Greater Toronto Area, and we handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
The short version. We collect only what we need to quote and complete your detail. We do not run analytics, we do not set tracking cookies, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone. The booking form is not connected yet, so bookings currently reach us by phone or email, and Karam, the owner, is the person accountable for all of it.
1. How a booking actually reaches us today
The booking form on this site is not connected yet. Nothing you type into it is transmitted anywhere, to us or to anyone else. If you fill it in and press send, the page tells you so and asks you to call, text or email instead. Until the form is switched on, every booking reaches us one of two ways:
- By phone or text to 647.879.9162, which is a mobile number
- By email to contact@detailaura.ca, which is a Google Gmail account
When the form is switched on, we will update this page first, name the company that delivers the submissions to us, and change the date at the top. We will not quietly start collecting through it.
2. What we ask for
Everything on this site is optional until you choose to send us a booking request. Whether you reach us by phone, by email or through the form once it works, this is what we ask for and why:
- Your name, so we know who we are speaking with
- Your phone number, so we can confirm the appointment by call or text
- Your vehicle: year, make and model, which sets the correct price band
- The package you picked, or a note that you would like us to recommend one
- The service location: the city or postal code where the vehicle will be, since we come to you
- Your preferred date and preferred time window (morning, afternoon or evening)
- Vehicle condition selections: pet hair, stains, odour, heavy dirt, or none of these
- Vehicle photos, optional, up to four through the form, which help us confirm pricing before we arrive. Read the note below before you send any
- Any notes you add, optional, such as parking access or anything else we should know
Please do not include information we did not ask for. In particular, do not send photos that show your licence plate, house number, documents left in the vehicle, or other people, unless you are comfortable sharing them with us.
Photos carry hidden information, and you should know that
A photo taken on a phone usually stores more than the picture. Most cameras save the exact GPS coordinates of the spot where the shot was taken, plus the date and time, inside the image file itself. You cannot see any of it by looking at the photo.
That matters here for one reason: most people photograph their car where it is parked, which is usually their driveway. So a photo of your car can quietly carry your home address as a map coordinate, even if no house number, street sign or plate is visible in the frame. That is not a legal category of sensitive data in Canada, but it is your home, and you should decide about it rather than find out later.
Being straight with you about where this stands:
- We do not want that data, we have no use for it, and we do not look at it
- Nothing on this site strips it for you, so if you send a photo, whatever the camera stored travels with it
- You can stop it at the source by turning off location access for your camera app, or by taking the photo away from home
- Screenshotting a photo, or sharing it through an app that resizes it, usually drops the location data as a side effect
- You can skip photos entirely. They only help us quote more accurately before we arrive, and describing the vehicle in the notes works nearly as well
If you have already sent us a photo and want it gone, ask and we delete it. See section 9.
What we do not collect
We do not collect payment card details through this website, and no payment is taken when you send us a booking request. We do not ask for a date of birth, a driver's licence number, an insurance policy number, or a vehicle identification number, and you should not send them.
3. Why we use it
We use the information in your booking request only to:
- Confirm the service, the final price and the appointment time
- Reach the vehicle at the right place, on the right day
- Arrive prepared for the actual condition of the vehicle
- Answer questions you send us by phone, text or email
We do not use your details for unsolicited marketing, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties.
4. Cookies, analytics and tracking
This website sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. It loads no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no Meta Pixel, no TikTok pixel and no other third-party analytics or advertising script. There are no embedded videos, no embedded maps and no social media widgets. Every image and every font is served from this site's own server rather than from an outside provider, so loading a page here does not tell any third party that you visited.
Your browser may cache images and fonts from this site on your device to make return visits faster. That data stays on your device and is not readable by us.
5. Who else handles your information
We are a small operation and we use as few outside companies as we can. Here is the complete list, including the one that is genuinely handling your information right now:
- Google, for email. Our address contact@detailaura.ca is a Gmail account, so anything you email us, and anything we email you, sits on Google's servers. That includes photos you attach and any privacy request you send. Google acts as our processor for this, and its terms are in the Google Privacy Policy. If you would rather not involve Google at all, phone or text us instead.
- Our mobile phone provider. A call or a text passes through the network carrying it, the same as any other call or text you make.
- Website hosting. A host will keep standard server logs, which can include your IP address, your browser type and the pages requested. Those logs exist for security and reliability, not to build a profile of you. We have not finished choosing the host, so we are not naming one here yet. We will name it, and link its privacy policy, on this page before the site goes live.
- Booking form delivery. None today, because the form is not connected. When we connect it, one company will receive submissions and pass them to us. We will name that company here, and link its privacy policy, in the same update that switches the form on.
That is the entire list. No advertising network, no analytics company, no customer database, no CRM, and nobody who is paid to profile you. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and there is no arrangement under which anyone could.
Some of these providers store or process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where local law may allow authorities to access it. Google is one of them.
6. How long we keep it
We do not keep things indefinitely, and we would rather tell you the number than say "as long as necessary".
- Vehicle photos: deleted within 90 days of the appointment. They exist to quote the work accurately. Once the detail is done they have served their purpose, and given what section 2 explains about hidden location data, holding them longer is a risk with no upside for you.
- Booking requests, messages and the basic service record (your name, phone number, vehicle, what we did and when): kept for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted. Two years covers a returning customer through a couple of seasons, which is the only real reason to keep it.
- Anything the law requires us to hold longer, such as records tied to a payment for tax purposes, is kept for that period and no longer.
If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we do. See section 9.
7. How we protect it
Some of this is about what we do, and some of it is about what does not exist here in the first place:
- There are no accounts on this website. No sign-in, no password of yours, no customer database. There is nothing here to break into, because there is nothing here.
- Your booking sits in an email inbox and on a phone, protected by the sign-in security on those accounts and devices. It is read by Karam and by whoever is doing the detail. Nobody else at all.
- We delete on the schedule in section 6, which is a real safeguard rather than a promise, because information we no longer hold cannot be exposed.
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to guard against unauthorized access, use or disclosure. No system is perfect, and we will not claim otherwise.
8. Who is accountable for privacy here
Canadian privacy law requires a named person to be accountable for the personal information a business holds. For Detail Aura that person is Karam, the owner. There is no committee and no department, and pretending otherwise would not help you.
Reach him about anything on this page:
- Email contact@detailaura.ca with "Privacy" in the subject line
- Or call or text 647.879.9162
He details cars during the day, so email is the reliable route. Expect an acknowledgement within 5 business days and a full answer within 30 days, which is the deadline the law sets. If a request will take longer than that, we will tell you why before the 30 days are up rather than after.
If something ever goes wrong and personal information is lost or exposed in a way that creates a real risk of serious harm to you, we will tell you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We keep a record of any such incident for 24 months, as the law requires, whether or not it was reportable.
9. Your rights, and how to request deletion
Under PIPEDA you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Give you a copy of it
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete it, including any photos you sent us
- Withdraw your consent to our holding it at all
To make any of these requests, contact Karam using either route in section 8. Tell us the name and phone number you used when booking, so we can find the record. There is no charge, and asking will never affect the service you get from us.
If you are not satisfied with how we handled your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
10. Photos of completed work
We sometimes photograph vehicles we have detailed and share the results on our Instagram or on this website. If you would rather your vehicle was not photographed or posted, tell us before or during the appointment and we will not do it. If something is already posted and you want it removed, email us and we will take it down.
11. Children
This service is intended for vehicle owners and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
12. Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect. Two changes are already scheduled: naming the hosting provider before the site goes live, and naming the form delivery service when the booking form is switched on.
